GreenLight is generally speaking safer than TURP, and more comfortable for patients, the hospitalization time is reduced, the catheterization time as well, there is virtually no risk of blood transfusion. A recent GOLIATH study has demonstrated this with high quality of scientific evidence.

It is very important to choose a very experienced surgeon, as both TURP and GreenLight are as good as the quality of the job performed by the surgeon. (e.g. using GreenLight does not guarantee a good outcome if the surgeon is not doing a good job).

We of course welcome foreign patients, the total cost of the procedure rounds 10.000 euro.
Fernando Gómez Sanchahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10942733579619065877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18267983.post-18357492381295768452013-12-25T07:09:26.513+01:002013-12-25T07:09:26.513+01:00Dr Fernando,

They did a radical

prostatectomy. After one month the PSA was 0,50; one month after, 0,20. The value was stable for 3 years. In Juny 95 an ecography showed an "area ipoecogina"

(in italian, hope that in spanish could be similar) sized 10-15mm.
In 1998 the PSA decreased to 0,10 and after that began to increase reaching in 2005 4,44.
For 4 months (April September 2006) my father has been submitted to hormonal treatment with Casodex 50mg; between July and September 2006 he has been

sbimitted also to a radiotherapy with 37 applications "ov 66,6 GY" (no idea what does it mean) and on 10.03.07 the PSA was 0,01.
On 31.05.07 PSA was 0,03 and 27.11.07 was 0,15.Francesco Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02371825658821329208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18267983.post-49862902005147231402007-12-17T22:31:00.000+01:002007-12-17T22:31:00.000+01:00Francesco,I am not sure your father can benefit fr...Francesco,

I am not sure your father can benefit from HIFU after radiotherapy several years after a radical prostatectomy. It improves urinary symptoms and flow in patients with benign prostate growth. It can also help patients with prostate cancer and obstructive growth, but as this technique only removes the central part of the prostate, it is not a curative operation in prostate cancer.

It is mainly used in prostate cancer to palliate the urinary symptoms of patients with advanced prostate cancer (removal of the prostate was not possible, or they were radiated) and obstruction of the urinary tract. Some of these patients end up with a catheter, and PVP is an easy and safe way to solve the problem...

I also use PVP as the initial step for HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound), removing the central part of the prostate first and then treating the peripheral zone of the prostate with high intensity focused ultrasound, and this is a curative technique for prostate cancer in a subset of patients with relatively small prostates (less than 40 grams) and relatively low PSA and low Gleason grade.

I hope this helps...Fernando Gómez Sanchahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10942733579619065877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18267983.post-31773719589240567882007-01-02T05:12:00.000+01:002007-01-02T05:12:00.000+01:00Dr. Sancha,
