Visitors from India

Today I had the pleasure of welcoming two Indian Doctors. The prestigious Urologist Shailesh Raina and Col. Manesh Sadhuram Masand from Jaslok Hospital from Mumbai, India. They want to be the first buyers of an HPS laser in India, and they wanted to see some Greenlight HPS Photoselective Vaporization of the Prostate procedures.

We have programmed four patients this morning, with prostates weighing 150, 80, 60 and 50 grams, the last of the cases was an obstructive prostate cancer. We have managed to operate all patients from 9 am to 3 pm, and all surgeries were uneventful. I think they liked what they saw and I guess they will decide to go for it.

Tonight I will take them to a Flamenco Show. They have to see some of our culture before they return to India... Olé!!!

Hello Doctor,

Thank you so much for your blog..You may ask why..:)

Its because of your blog I came to know abt the technique and contacted at Jaslok hospital in mumbai. My father in law has been on catherater from 2 months and was going to have TURP this monday. I have asked him to look for this technique which may be better than TURP. He suffers from borderline case of diabetes as well as High BP . And he is one of the typws who doesnt want to take tablets/oral medicines..

I thank you for sharing this useful information ..

We would also like to know if there are any risks , side effects for a person who has been on catherator for two months because of bladder retention. He has ranging diabetes from 150-190 and has high Blood presuure upto 140-90 .

The risks are very low. He has more risk being a diabetic than a non diabetic patient, but you must remember that PVP is a low risk operation.
